An intriguing method of ocean fishing unfolds in shallow, level regions known as flats.

These snow-white sandy expanses with solid substrates provide an inviting stage for wading fishing, boasting an abundance of sizeable species like Bonefish, Albula Vulpes, Milkfish (Chanos chanos), Triggerfish (Hydrocynus vittatus). Executing the technique of casting nearly weightless artificial flies demands a particular skill set, earning this approach the distinction of being considered "aerobatics" within the angling community. Notably, all equipment—rod, reel, line, and artificial fly—ought to be purpose-built for marine fishing, ensuring a safety margin. For Bonefish, a Class 9 rod paired with shrimp flies is recommended, while the Giant Caranx (Caranx Ignobilis) calls for a Class 12 rod, complemented by classic caranx imitating fry flies.

Fly fishing in the Seychelles presents an equally thrilling experience in the open ocean, close to atolls, islands, and reefs. Within these waters teem a remarkable array of fish, spanning tuna, trevally, barracuda, sailfish, wahoo, coryphaen, and numerous bottom fish species. Amidst the pursuit of shallow water catches, anglers can seize the opportunity to acquire unique trophies in the expansive ocean expanse. Count on our assistance in selecting suitable gear and equipment tailored for sea fly fishing.

Bait fishing involves employing natural bait or live fish to attract catches.

While trolling with live or deceased fish can also fall within the bait fishing category, our observations have demonstrated that modern, pricier artificial lures prove more effective for trolling. These lures enable us to maintain higher speeds, subsequently enhancing our chances of catching more promising spots. This technique is implemented when the boat is stationary or moving at minimal speeds along a gradient. During the fishing process, the bait is lowered to the seabed and held in position using a suitable sinker or suspended midway in the water column. Our signature branded bait serves as an excellent addition, drawing in a diverse array of fish. This method is especially effective for capturing sizable fish that forage near the seabed.

During the night, this technique emerges as particularly successful for shark fishing. In the afternoon, typically after 11:00 AM and in warm weather conditions, predatory fish often shift their activity to mid-water layers. This period is when the largest trophies are frequently enticed by live bait, sometimes weighing up to 10 kg. These are lowered utilizing a downrigger at a speed of approximately 4 knots. This technique dovetails seamlessly with the use of large wobblers, allowing for comprehensive exploration of all depths and horizons.

There are substantial disparities in fishing techniques and gear between river and sea fishing due to the significant size and resistance differences in sea fish.

Regarding rods, composite models are the norm. Relatively short spinning rods are tailored for boat fishing, while longer versions, particularly the optimal 370 cm rod for extensive casting, are ideal for shore fishing. The occurrence of large fish catches from the shore remains an exception; hence, the prevailing approach involves capturing juvenile pelagic and bottom fish, typically weighing a few kilograms, using the familiar gear designed for fishing in Russian waters. It's essential to note that marine spinning rods for boat fishing are somewhat elusive within the domestic market, even in Moscow. These specialized spinning rods, with tests ranging from 24 to 60 kg, vary in length from 1.8 to 2.4 m (or even shorter, specifically for trolling). Test ratings signify the minimum weight in grams or kilograms needed to bend the tip of a horizontally positioned rod into a vertical stance. Consequently, these rods employ composite materials for their guides, preventing excessive heat generation due to intense friction.

Reel options for sea fishing typically involve multipliers manufactured by brands such as Abu Garcia, Penn Senator, Policansky, Shimano, and Daiwa. These reels commonly possess gear ratios significantly higher than 1:1. Additionally, for those inclined towards ease, reels equipped with electric motors are available, considerably reducing the angler's effort.

For fishing lines, thick monofilament with metal or Kevlar leaders, or braided lines with leaders, are utilized. When dealing with sharks, a long steel cable is often employed.

While trolling with live or dead fish could fall under bait fishing, our experience highlights that modern, pricier artificial lures tend to be more effective for trolling due to the ability to maintain higher speeds. This technique is employed when the boat is stationary or moving at minimal speeds along a slope. The bait is lowered to the seabed and held there by an appropriate sinker, or it can be suspended midway in the water column. Our proprietary branded bait serves as a valuable addition, enticing a diverse range of fish species, particularly those that forage near the seabed.

In the evening, this method proves successful for capturing sharks. During the afternoon, often post 11:00 AM and in warm weather conditions, predatory fish transition their activity to mid-water levels. This is the prime time for larger trophies, sometimes up to 10 kg, to be tempted by live bait deployed through a downrigger at around 4 knots. This approach synergizes effectively with the use of substantial wobblers, enabling comprehensive exploration of all depths and horizons.
